5 Keys for Roof Repair Before the Storm

The time to repair the roof is when the sun is shining. — John F. Kennedy

When a storm hits your life, it’s too late to prepare for it. You put yourself in a precarious situation if you take a casual approach to crisis preparation.

When I woke up in ICU two days after I was airlifted to the hospital, the rain was pouring down on my life. As I traveled the long and difficult road of recovery, I discovered how prepared I really was for a storm of this magnitude.

This week, we’ve had a fresh reminder of how tragedy can hit people when they least expect it. Those who bounce forward after a storm are the ones who are better prepared BEFORE the storm hits.

Five key insights to help you repair your roof when the sun is shining

  1. Don’t hold a grudge. Forgive those who have hurt you. Love, listen, and spend time with those you care about.
  2. Look after your body. Exercise regularly. Eat healthy. Get enough sleep. Handle stress wisely.
  3. Stay open to the reality that you are created as a spiritual being. Connect with God who loves you and wants to travel with you on sunny and storm days.
  4. Adopt a growth mindset. Be teachable and open to new ideas and new ways to do things. Be flexibility. Resist a fixed mindset.
  5. Live on less than you make. Carry adequate insurance. Have an emergency fund. Live on a budget.
